String quintet, known for playing everything from Elgar to Radiohead, makes stop at The Acorn

THREE OAKS, Mich. — The ancient Greek city Sybaris, located on the gulf coast of what is now the Calabria region in Southern Italy, was known for the opulent luxury, feasts and hedonism of its citizens.

The string quintet Sybarite5 adopted the name because it was also a place known to be "charmed with music.”

Comprised of violinists Sami Merdinian and Sarah Whitney, violist Angela Pickett, cellist Laura Metcalf and bassist Louis Levitt, Sybarite5 uses its own blend of charm and a voracious appetite for a seemingly endless swath of musical styles that would make those ancient inhabitants proud.
