Gaga, Kanye, Lincoln Center, and the Western Frontier

June brought us to Lincoln Center, Lady Gaga, Kanye West & more We were invited to bring The Shuffle Effect to the newly-renovated David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center on June 2. The show was pretty well attended... actually there was a line around the block and many people were turned away! Probably thanks to Time Out NY choosing our show as one of the top 5 "critic's picks" for concerts in NYC. This Shuffle Effect concert was a fun show for us, especially since it included the New York premiere of Radiohead’s “Weird Fishes” arranged by the amazing Paul Sanho Kim. It was a wonderful way to... end our NYC concert season. Paul- you rock!

But the work wasn’t over for us then—on June 6th, we returned to Lincoln Center to perform at the CFDA fashion awards, where the main honoree was Lady Gaga.

Outfitted in Rag and Bone couture, we perched on the steps outside Alice Tully Hall to perform during the red carpet arrivals. We tried to keep our eyes on the music as celebrities in and out of the fashion world paraded past us and stopped to listen. Kanye West did a little dancing to “The Rebel.” We didn’t get to meet Ms. Gaga, since she brought a rat with her down the red carpet and was preoccupied with that, but we’re hoping it will happen soon!

Since then we’ve been scattered around the world (literally!), but will re-convene in Aspen next week to begin our duties as the official Alumni Ensemble of the Aspen Music Festival and School. There we will continue our residency at the Paradise Bakery, perform for the AMFS, Road Scholar program, perform out-of-town concerts in Carbondale and Albuquerque, NM, record in our favorite acoustic space, Harris Concert Hall, and during all of this learn a pile of new repertoire to perform in our upcoming season.

At the end of the summer, we’ll be heading to Seattle and Minnesota to perform so stay tuned for more info on that, as well as updates from Aspen!
